BIO
Hi! I'm Emilia and I have a great pleasure to welcome You on my website about photomicrography!

I started my journey with photomicrography and macrophotography in 2013 in Suwalki (Poland) under the watchful eye of my mentor and teacher - Mr Marek MiÅ› - a multi-award winning photographer of such competitions asThe Nikon Small World (http://mismicrophoto.com/).

I 'm a biologist graduated with Master's degree in Biology from Aberystwyth University (UK). During my studies I was involved in a project about cannibalism and predation between invasive and non-invasive gammarid species (aquatic crustaceans) and in a study testing how magnesium levels affect crossover frequency in arabidopsis (a plant).

For 1,5 year I have been working as a lab manager/technician at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Faculty of Biology, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan (Poland). I was a member of the Zebrafish developmental neurobiology research group which aim was understanding the role of glia in axonal morphogenesis.
Since September 2023 I have been associated with the Wielkopolska Centre for Advanced Technologies, Adam Mickiewicz University - a multidisciplinary centre bringing together the best specialists in science, life sciences and technology, focused on new materials and biomaterials with multifaceted applications.
I was working there as a Junior Animal Specialist at the Animal Facility and currently I am a lab manager/technician being a member of a team working on C.elegans.

I am also working as a Salsation Basic Instructor (combination of dance and functional training in a nutshell).

My education and job along with my artistic soul enable me to combine science and art which effects you can see here :) .

For me, photomicrography allows to discover the world invisible to the naked eye. I'm a big fan of searching for similarities in all the kingdoms and admiring how they are closely interwined :) ! The potential hidden in the microworld is huge and enables to move to entirely different dimension. Additionally, photomicrography is a field that allows you to let your imagination run wild and thanks to various lighting techniques you can obtain abstract images or find similar elements between the microworld and the real world. Photographs taken in this way show science in an artistic way and encourage recipients to reflect on their own interpretation of photos.

So, without further ado, let's explore the microworld with me ;) !
